To celebrate the « Fête Nationale de la Gastronomie », Châteauneuf-du-Pape organises a tour of a market, a cooking demonstration and a wine tasting on 24 September 2017 with Chef Pascal Barnouin.
Pascal Barnouin is the Chef of the restaurant Maison de la Tour in Avignon. On Sunday 24 September, he will welcome a small group of foodies and guide them through les Halles indoor market in Avignon. Together, they will choose fresh and quality produce from the various stalls and bring them back to the restaurant, close to the city walls and set in the popular « quartier des Italiens ».
During a short cooking class, Pascal will then show how to transform a few quality products into a wonderful lunch.
The workshop will be followed by a presentation of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine appellation – the very first one to become an AOC, or Protected Designation of Origin, on 15 May 1936. The participants will be initiated to all the secrets of this internationally famous cru, and will learn why there is no such diversity of styles and expressions as in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines.
