This year, the federation of producers organized a large harvest picnic for the third time, in celebration of the Gastronomic Festival. The purpose of the event is to introduce tourists to the impressive seasonal activity we know as the harvest. It is an occasion to demonstrate what the work in the vineyards is like, to explore the different terroirs of Châteauneuf-du-Pape with the help of our geologist George Truc and to better understand the process of winemaking by visiting the cellars.
Saturday, the 27th of September, about 50 visitors were welcomed by several members of the Brunel family and the always sparkling Marion, an employee of the wine house. The informative morning was followed by a by a marvelous buffet, in which local products and producers we served, such as the butcher Côte d’Or from Courthézon, Latour’s cheeses from Uchaux and Caromb’s figs for desert. The lunch was accompanied by red and white Châteauneuf-du-Papes, with the highlight being a red Château Gardine from 1974. It is with ease that we can conclude the event as successful with questions like: where can we sign up for next year?
