2015 World Championship of wine-tasting : Japan and the United States join the competition.
The major event of this fall in the world of wine is definitely the 3rd annual World Championship of Wine-Tasting, to be held this year on 17 October in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The event brings together wine-tasters from all over the world, with 20 countries entering the competition this year - 3 of them for the very first time (the United States, Japan and Switzerland).
Who will take over after France, world champion in 2014, and Belgium, world champion in 2013 ? A difficult guess, given the constantly improving level of the competitors.
In Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 20 teams, from 20 countries, will compete, a “Chef & Sommelier“ glass in hand, as they will blind-taste 12 wines from various wine-producing countries around the globe, trying to find out for each of them: grape variety / country of production / appellation / name of the producer / vintage.
Specially selected to represent their countries during this world event, the various teams of 4 amateur wine-tasters have been training for months, sometimes with the help of a coach.
This friendly competition is also a good opportunity for wine-enthusiasts from all over the world to meet and exchange during 2 days – as well as a good opportunity for them to discover the vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The World Championship is organised by the Revue des Vins de France with their partners : wine&co.com · Ayala Champagne · Chef & Sommelier glasses · Maison Ogier · Laroche · the Fédération des Syndicats de Producteurs de Châteauneuf-du-Pape · Valade & Transandine.
