Père Pape is primarily a product of the appellation's southern terroirs at Grand Coulet. It has been aged for 18 months in barrels. Grenache is the dominant grape, as in all our Châteauneuf du Pape vintages. However, Domaine du Père Pape has the highest proportion of syrah, at between 15 and 20% depending on the year.
Domaine du Père Pape is a solid yet ambitious wine that will happily keep for years. It has a complex bouquet made up of a blend of cooked woodland berries, cocoa and spices. Its warm taste reveals the underlying tannins, delicate and dense, with a hint of prune and kirsch cherries.
