The family MAYARD, native from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, owned a property since Napoleon the 3rd. Jean-Luc MAYARD represents the 5th generation. And now, the continuation of the 6th generation is assured with Blandine MAYARD !
The chalky-clayvey terroir is covered with big pebbles rolled. This terroir is the origin of the Domaine's name. Indeed, in 1990 "Le Domaine Roger MAYARD et fils" became "Le Domaine du Galet des Papes".
It is in our caves dated from 1929 that the wine will progressively become the consumption product of a great and fine quality.
On our 24 different plots we grow a large variety of grapes grenache black, mourvèdre, syrah, counoise, vaccarèse, cinsault for the red, et grenache white, clairette, bourboulenc, for the white.
Thanks to this diversity will raise a powerful red Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Cuvée "Tradition" & "Vieilles Vignes"), colourful glistening and original, a pale yellow white Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Cuvée Blanc de Blancs "AUJUBLAN"), floral bouquet and incomparable freshness.
On our sandy terroir, we grow and harvest our fine and nice red Côtes du Rhône, named "Le Petit Galet".
The Domaine itself (route de Bédarrides) is mainly the place of work but also of welcome for the visitors and customers. The Cellier du Galet des Papes (at 22 Avenue Baron Leroy) 2nd point of sales of the Domaine, propose also all the vintages for tasting and sale, from April till October 7/7.
